La cantante infatti, attivista gay da quando aveva 15 anni, non ha molto gradito il brano I Kissed A Girl, che ha definito omofobo e offensivo, ecco quanto ha detto:
“Odio Katy Perry! e sono offesa. Sta solo calvacando onde della nostra cultura, senza nemmeno essere o conoscere la cultura lesbica o bisessuale.”

“I hate Katy Perry! I’m so offended. She’s just riding on the backs of our culture, without having to pay any of the dues and not being actually lesbian or anything at all.”
